It seems like this year we are operating in reverse. April was the most floriferous spring I have experienced in a long time. It seemed like every Cherry tree, bulb and shrub bloomed like there is no tomorrow. Perhaps they sensed the upcoming rapture. Even plants that don’t have conspicuous flower structures seemed to be pushing as many buds as possible. This closeup of Buxus ‘Green Mountain’ was taken on a rooftop in April. It completely took me by surprise because you never usually notice a flower on Boxwood.
On another note, I do want to mention my contributing writer, Lily of the Valley. Lily is a dear friend of mine who works in the horticulture industry in the tri-state area. I believe that two heads are better than one, and since she is fully immersed in all things plant related, I thought it would be great to share her articles to give a different point of view. Lily is working with us to bring the coolest green spaces, garden products and her favorite plants to our blog. Please welcome her and check back frequently as our blog keeps growing!
